Transport Canada no longer follows a separate approval process or issues approval certificates for structural fire protection products for which Type Approval Certificates have been issued by the following recognised classification societies: American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd and Lloyd’s Register. In addition to the approved products listed on this website, you will find additional products on the recognised classification societies' website. Current Transport Canada Certificates are valid until their date of expiration. Once expired a manufacturer will renew the approval with a recognised classification society instead of renewing with TC.
You may access the lists of products approved by the recognised classification societies by visiting the following website. Products approved for installation on board Canadian vessels, meeting Transport Canada's requirements, are marked with a unique identifier for easy reference. The unique identifier is a design, a logo, a symbol or an expression that specifies that a product meets the requirements of Transport Canada.
